7 Ultimate Call of Duty: Vanguard Tips For Beginners
Many Call of Duty players will have pounced at the chance to get their hands on the new game back in November of 2021. Some will have taken to the game like an amphibious landing craft to water, but that’s not the story for everyone; some are only just getting around to buying the game, and others have never touched a CoD game in their lives!
And for a beginner, Call of Duty: Vanguard can be a difficult game to grasp – it can be easy to get lost in a game’s complexities before you figure out your own playing style. So, we’ve put together a few Call of Duty tips for beginners that can help you start your journey to mastering the world’s most popular shooter!
How do I get better at Call of Duty Vanguard?
As with most things, the best way to get better at CoD: Vanguard is to simply play the game! However, there are a few pointers we can give you that will speed up the process:
Adjust your settings
One of the most important things to do when playing Call of Duty is to adjust your settings on your games console or PC so that they work best for you. Make sure that your controls are mapped in a way that makes sense to you and that feels comfortable. One thing you should definitely do is adjust aim sensitivity – get used to turning up the sensitivity, it may feel impossibly quick at first, but it will give you an edge over your opponents! You should also think about turning off world motion blur and weapon motion blur in multiplayer mode – these often make the game look more realistic, but can be distracting and make spotting enemies much harder.
Play the campaign first
The big draw for Call of Duty fans is always multiplayer, so much so that sometimes they can’t resist skipping the campaign and jumping straight into a head-to-head match. Be sure to break that cycle! Playing the campaign first gives you a feel for the game and lets you get to grips with dispatching enemies at a difficulty level of your choice – there’ll be plenty of time to play multiplayer afterwards!
Start small with Combat Pacing
Call of Duty: Vanguard is the first franchise to introduce Combat Pacing. This new feature allows you to pick the number of players that will be involved in the fight, as well as changing the intensity of the match itself. There are three options to choose from:
- Tactical: The classic 6v6, fast paced and gives you plenty of opportunity to fight.
- Assault: This is a slightly more relaxed format, larger maps and a player count from 20-28 gives you space to breathe.
- Blitz: The clue is in the name, these lobbies range from 28 to 48 people and are pure chaos.
We obviously recommend starting out in either assault or tactical until you feel ready to take on the challenge of Blitz!
Test the merch
When playing Call of Duty: Vanguard, it is important to test out all the different types of weapons that are on offer. Each weapon has its own unique set of capabilities and weaknesses, so it is important to find the weapon that best suits your playstyle. Different weapons are better suited to certain map types, so start discovering the best weapons for short, medium and long-range battles!
Mount, mount, mount!
Make sure you make the most of the mount mechanic in Vanguard! Once you start shooting past the 15 metre mark, your accuracy will start to drop off rapidly – mounting helps to bypass issues like recoil and tightens up your spray of bullets.
Pick personal perks
When playing Call of Duty: Vanguard, it’s important to pick perks that support your play style. For example, if you enjoy using sniper rifles, you’ll want to pick perks that increase your accuracy and stealth. On the other hand, if you’re more of a run-and-gunner with an assault rifle, you’ll want to pick perks that increase your speed and damage. One must-have, regardless of playstyle, is the Ninja perk that makes your footsteps silent – this way, you’ll be able to get the drop on your opponents!
Forget other games
Trying to play Call of Duty: Vanguard like you have every other FPS game just doesn’t work. Even if you’ve played other COD instalments before, Vanguard will have its own quirks and features. The best thing to do is explore the game and learn from every kill you get!
Is Call of Duty Vanguard free to play?
Unfortunately, the full Vanguard game is not free to play. But, if you don’t want to spend money, you can hone your skills in the free-to-play Call of Duty Warzone Pacific Caldera instead!
Follow these tips and you’ll be playing like an elite special forces member in no time!
