Call of Duty Vanguard Teasers and Announcements Incoming

Stay sharp for August 19th, because the Call of Duty Vanguard release is coming soon!

Season 5 of Call of Duty Warzone dropped just in time for the weekend, and while we’ve been enjoying a good old fashioned battle, we know that there’s more content just around the corner.

An announcement date of August 19th had been hinted at, and now it’s official; locked and loaded for 10:30am (PT) this Thursday! Stay frosty everyone… but also, let’s be honest – it’s ridiculously exciting so maybe join us in getting a bit overexcited.

Activision Blizzard have had a busy weekend, dropping content creators from different regions with four short teasers that were immediately leaked on Twitter. The first clip is labelled ‘Pacific Front’, which briefly shows a badge labelled ‘Task Force Vanguard’. @_Tom_Henderson_ on Twitter analysed some of these clips, and it seems that they’re going above and beyond the scope of previously seen WWII stories.

This clip may be referring to the Battle of Midway, but it could also be in reference to the Battle of Iwo Jima. We’re likely going to see battles that we never fought back in the World at War days, with a variety of locations and stories that we haven’t seen explored yet in Call of Duty.

Russian content creators received another teaser which featured a hint towards a possible character in the upcoming game. A bit of research suggests that it’s a female character, based off of a real-life Russian soldier known as the ‘Lady of Death’ – the most successful female sniper in history.

This could mean a possible map in Odessa or Sevastopol, both cities in which she was known to ply her deadly trade. Either way, we can feel some serious Enemy at the Gates vibes and we are here for it!

Down under, Australian content creators received a teaser featuring the Australian flag, and the same badge from the first video. Our money is that we’ll be following ANZAC forces into the North African Desert.

The tank battle at El-Alamein could make for an amazing CoD set piece, so we hope so! Gameplay may feature incredibly heavy weaponry such as tanks and grenades which reflect another soldier’s history.

Finally, we have a ‘Western Front’ teaser. Our money says that this will feature the D-Day landings – and a paratrooper mission or two! Either way, we reckon pushing on to Berlin through the green fields of France is going to be very satisfying.

We see a sign labelled ‘Atchung’ — the German word for ‘attention’ — as well as a torn fabric that reads ‘Sgt. Kingsley’. We have yet to find out who Kingsley is, or what he should be paying attention to, but we can’t wait to find out!

Some Warzone players were surprised to find a new ending to their games, which has now turned into a teaser for Vanguard. Instead of the usual closing sequence, one of your players is shot and killed by a mysterious sniper dressed in a WW2 uniform.

The eagle-eyed amongst you might have drawn a link to the Russian sniper we’ve mentioned already, but for now it’s all just speculation. Either way, we can’t wait to find out who the shooter is.

We’ve also received some key dates to put in your diary – fresh from a leak by a gaming news website. One of these dates include the release of a possible beta release for Playstation, and a beta to be played by everyone: the 16th of September.

It’s important to note that these have yet to be confirmed by Activision, and we expect more details coming on August 19th.
