Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Warzone 1.0’s fifth season, beginning tomorrow will be the final season of the classic battle royale.

Despite the exciting new features and maps arriving in tomorrow’s release, CoD fans can’t help but look forward to the release of Warzone 2, that could be right around the corner.

Earlier this month, a leak revealed a possible release date for Warzones widely anticipated sequel. This supposed date of November 16 has been touted, as players become extremely excited to discover what the next chapter of Warzone has in store.

Additionally, it seems as though the wait may be over for many players most desired Warzone feature. Since the days of Verdansk, players have been asking for a Warzone FOV slider.

As of yet, the feature hasn’t made its way into the game, nor will it in Season 5. But prominent Warzone gamer, Metaphor has claimed that an FOV slider is set to make its way to Warzone 2 and will supposedly be available for those on last-gen consoles as well.

This has subsequently raised questions around the optimisation of Warzone. Some have questioned how a PS4 or Xbox One from almost 10 years ago is going to run Warzone 2 on 120 FOV with consistent frames. With many believing that last-generation consoles will not have a maximum FOV of 120, or that they’ll have to sacrifice frame rates to access wider FOVs.

What to expect from tomorrow’s update

With players having just three months left to enjoy the current Warzone meta, ending in November, before moving to a brand-new experience for the launch of Warzone 2.

The final season, named Last Stand, will centre around an alliance of Call of Duty villains lead by Black Ops 2’s Raul Menendez. Alongside Menendez, Modern Warfare’s Khaled Al-Asad, Ghosts’ Gabriel T. Rorke and Black Ops 3’s He “Seraph” Zhen-Zhen also make an appearance.

The final season will feature a new engine update, a brand-new arsenal of weapons, and more. Here is a list of what to expect in tomorrow’s update:

Volcanic Activity at Caldera: A highlighted in the new season 5 trailer; we can expect a lot of map changes on Caldera. Avoid the lava and molten rocks shooting from the sky if you want to survive the new season.

New Caldera Gulag, Lighting Changes: A new volcanic-themed Gulag will be arriving to the game, as well as experience new skies and lighting updates across Caldera and Rebirth Island.

Defend or Sabotage Caldera: Operation: Last Call, inspired by the Search and Destroy modes of old, features different outcomes based on your match results. Pick a side in the Heroes vs Villains limited-time mode community event and earn rewards for participating.
