Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 Leaks and Vanguard News
Season 5 of Warzone drops August 12th, but what about the much anticipated Call of Duty: Vanguard?
Season 5 of Warzone and Cold War will be kicking off on August 12th, but that’s not the only explosive news we’ve got for you this week! We’ve got an update on the next instalment in the CoD series – ‘Vanguard’. Previous games in the series have been released in either October or November, which means we’re waiting for the next bombshell of information any day now.
According to rumours, Vanguard might see a return to the glory days of CoD WWII. We’re psyched to shoot some virtual Nazis again (that includes the zombified ones), but Activision has yet to confirm or deny any of the leaks. In the meantime, let’s take a look at what might be in store for Warzone.
T-minus 8 days to launch
It has been confirmed that Season 5 of Warzone will begin on August 12th, so the countdown is on. This might just be the last season before the release of Vanguard, and it’s already kicked off with a new trailer.
According to a leak on Reddit, the hacker in the trailer is apparently an operator called ‘Kitsune’. We also saw the use of a mind-control device, and we’re already wondering how this will play into the new season. The video also featured a nice little teaser for Vanguard which caused a lot of buzz.
Is this the end of Verdansk?
We might just be kissing Verdansk goodbye during the new season of Warzone. Instead, we might see a WW2-themed map for the release of Vanguard. An industry insider has already teased this on Twitter, saying that the new Warzone map will be ‘insane’.
If you’re a Call of Duty veteran, you’ll recognise this clip as a warning about an incoming AC-130 — the gunship from Modern Warfare 2. If a WWII theme wasn’t serving up enough nostalgia already, the AC-130 will finish the job in the next Warzone event.
What about weapons and skins? Season 4 gifted us with a great new arsenal; some melee weapons, SMGs, LMGs, ARs and a Nail Gun! So far, only one weapon has been leaked: the infamous Tec-9. As for skins, we saw a face we never thought we’d see again — Soap MacTavish, up for grabs in the Warzone store.
What do we know about Vanguard?
Activision already covered WW2 nearly 13 years ago in the brilliant World at War. With a choice of Soviet campaigns in the East, British and French to the West and American forces in the Pacific, the canvas is as vast as it is interesting. But we know one thing – you can’t go wrong with fighting Nazis!
An ex-Activision ambassador took to Twitter in June to claim that he has seen gameplay and footage from Vanguard. Although the footage itself hasn’t been leaked, he confirmed that the speculation around WW2 is true. The HUD is apparently reminiscent of World at War’s own set-up, which is exciting for long-time fans of the series.
If you’re as excited as we are for the glorious nostalgic days of the earlier games, then you’ll be pleased to hear that the infamous Terminal map may be returning. @TheMW2Ghost leaked this crucial info: although it’s unconfirmed, we’re praying it makes a comeback.
Ready to take to the sky in Warzone and Vanguard? Not only can these new planes fly: they’re ready to rain hellfire. We’re hoping for a lineup of classic WW2 fighter and bomber planes in the next game. You have to give it to Activision, they really work hard to give us new, more interesting ways of blowing up the enemy!
If you loved MW3 as much as we did and can’t wait for a remaster, then strap in! A leaker has theorised that it could be bundled with the release of Vanguard as the remaster was set to release later this year. This may not mean the return of online for MW3, but just the campaign itself.
You can expect a heap of information coming between the 18th and 25th of August, and a Warzone event to go along with it! Since Call of Duty skipped out on any sort of reveal during E3, it is safe to say that we’ll be getting a solid date sometime this month.
