FIFA 22 Fantasy FUT promotion: everything you need to know
The onslaught of FIFA 22 promos doesn’t let up, and EA Sports are treating us to a brand new event!
This week, news began to break – thanks to our trusty friend @FutSheriff – that a new promotion was arriving in FUT! Unsurprisingly, the buzz around this one is pretty big; us FIFA fans love a shiny new toy to play with. Your next promotion is, drum roll… FIFA 22 Fantasy FUT!
What is Fantasy FUT?
The promotion looks like a rebrand of the old WHAT IF promotion, although we don’t think that there will be position changes in Fantasy FUT.
The promotion will see a team of players each receive a new, dynamic special card. The cards are linked to player performance in real life, and will improve if the player hits certain milestones in a set number of games.
When is Fantasy FUT released?
@FutSheriff hasn’t had confirmation of the date yet, but he’s slated this Friday March 18 2022 (Team one will then run until Friday March 25 2022) as the launch date – and he’s usually pretty good with these things!
How does Fantasy FUT work?
Similarly to other promotions like FUT Birthday, this promo is going to have two separate teams and will run across two weeks.
We’ll be receiving some players through FUT Friendlies objectives, SBCs and packs.
Any player who receives a Fantasy FUT card will receive an initial stat boost, but they will also be eligible for THREE further upgrades corresponding to their real world performances.
How do Fantasy FUT promo players receive upgrades?
Every player in the promo will receive the following targets:
- Play in 3 of their team’s next 5 games.
- Win 1 of their team’s next 5 games.
- Attackers and midfielders: Score or assist in 1 out of the next 5 games.
- Defenders and goalkeepers: keep 1 clean sheet in the next 5 games.
Our Fantasy FUT player predictions
Ferland Mendy – for a man who is yet to receive a special card in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, we think a Fantasy FUT for Mendy would be great. Juicing up his card to the high 80s would see his pace rocket and place his passing, dribbling and defending well into the mid 80s territory.
Allan Saint-Maxim – We’ve been putting this man’s name forward for an upgraded card for a while now because he has so much potential. A big jump up from 79 would see him turn into a very fun Prem player to use.
Raphinha – For a man who continues to stand out in comparison to his struggling Leeds side, we think this is another player who has the potential to be META in-game. A dynamic card that could possibly reach into the 90s would be Raphinha’s ticket into the hearts and minds of many FIFA players.
Romero – This card would give you a fair chance of finally mixing up your Premier League back line. With a potential overall somewhere around the 91 mark, Romero would become a solid option in the middle of your defence.
Rodri – This man’s 86 CDM card has simply been too slow to keep up with the midfield play of most games in FUT. However, if he received a boosted Fantasy FUT card and his real-life counterpart had the chance to boost that card to the mid 90s, we’d be faced with a true beast with the ability to dominate midfield!
