FIFA 22: the best hero cards and how to get them

EA Sports’ announcement of FIFA 22 Hero Cards was met with a lot of excitement – football fans began dreaming of their club idols finally being acknowledged with special cards to use in FIFA Ultimate Team. With the release of the full game and FUT 22 now being in full-swing, once obscure names such as Abedi Pele, Ivan Cordoba and Sami Al-Jaber are now on the lips of many fans of the franchise.

But it’s still early days in this year’s Ultimate Team cycle, so it’s hard to know which Hero cards are actually worth using. We’ve put together a short list so you can find out!

But first – how to get Hero Cards in FIFA 22?

If you didn’t get your free FUT Hero Card by pre-ordering the game, there’s a few ways that you can still get a hold of these cards in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. Obviously, you can put your luck in the hands of the FIFA gods and buy packs with FIFA points, but you can expect the chances of getting a Hero Card to be in the low percentiles like Icons.

As well as that, there will be Squad Building Challenges and Objectives released throughout the game cycle that will give you a chance to earn these cards, so keep an eye out for updates! Of course, you’ll be able to buy these cards outright if you have enough coins – so let’s take you through the best options!

Robbie Keane

Keane scored over 120 Premier League goals for some of England’s top teams. That was before he moved over to the states and, even in his older years, still lit up the league with 105 goals in 170 appearances. He’s well deserving of a Hero card and, given the chance, there’s no doubt he’ll bang in the goals for your virtual team too – whether that’s in Division Rivals or FUT Champs.

If you want to fit the Irishman into your squad, you’re going to have to cough up over 560K on Xbox and over 615K on Playstation. It’s steep, but definitely worth it!

But don’t just listen to us, here’s one of FUTBIN’s glowing reviews:

“Idc how outdated he becomes, this man will stay in my club all year COYBIG.”

David Ginola

Ginola’s card is the most expensive Hero Card of the group. On PS5 you’ll be paying close to 1.8 million coins for the wide man and close to 1.5 million on Xbox. But boy oh boy is he worth it! He’s an 89 rated masterpiece and with 90 pace, 91 dribbling and 88 shooting he causes some serious problems for defenders, but it’s his 5 star skill moves and 5 star weak foot that really set him apart from the rest.

Here’s what FUTBIN’s reviews have to say:

“Better card than Prime Moments Pirès.”

Antonio Di Natale

Di Natale is another in-demand Hero Card and because of that, he’s also going to set you back at least a million coins! The Italian sharpshooter shot to club fame at Udinese and scored 191 goals for the side – that’s seen him receive an 88 rated striker card in FIFA 22.

Here’s what the FIFA users have been saying about his in-game performance:

“Will be useable until TOTS, what a CARD! Lets hope I get him in the pre order pack.”

Lars Ricken

A surprise addition to the list is Lars Ricken. At 85 rated, he might not seem like the superstar you need, and his 85k to 100k price tag is far from eye watering. With that said, we still think Ricken is a cheap beast who would be a standout player in an early game squad – his agility and speed means he can act as a real catalyst for your attack!

But don’t just take our word for it:

“I tried him today, his agility is unreal and he is faster than i thought. Price is just way too cheap for this monster. Good Shooting + Positioning.”

These are the calibre of players that you should be aiming to have in your squad, so be sure to get your grind on so you can afford to add these card types to your team!
