FIFA 22: UCL Road to the Final coming this Friday

The RTTF promo will drop at 6pm GMT, with special UCL players available in packs.

The FIFA 22 Ultimate Team promo train rolls on! We thought FUT Captains was up next, but it looks like we fell for some leaker bait from EA Sports. @FUTSherrif expects the next promo to be UCL RTTF – or FIFA 22 Road to the Final. This concept sees elite level Champions League players given live items that upgrade if their team progresses through the competition.

What is the UCL Road to the Final promo?

This promo features dynamic player items that improve each time their team progresses through the knockout stages of the Champions League – and they start with an upgrade at launch based on their highest in-form. So, if the promotion begins during the next few weeks (alongside the round of 16) then RTTF cards have the chance to upgrade SIX times!

An added bonus is the player doesn’t actually have to take part in a game to receive the attribute increase. But as soon as they are knocked out of the competition with their team, they will no longer receive any upgrades – so you have to make sure you back the right horse.

Who is in the RTTF promo?

So far, we’ve had no official confirmation. However, the leakmaster that is @futsherriff has teased that they already know a few of the names involved in the promotion – so we can be sure we’ll find out soon!

The predicted Road to the Final team

Kimpembe  – PSG

Base: 86

Max potential: 91

PSG are once again looking like strong candidates to go far in the UCL – even more so now that they have a 1-0 advantage in the Round of 16. That makes him likely to fulfil his max potential of 91.

Marcos Llorente – Atlético Madrid

Base Level: 87

Max potential: 92

It isn’t all plain sailing in La Liga for Atleti, but in cup competitions, form goes out of the window. They have a tough game against Manchester United, but if Atlético manage to get past that challenge then there’s no telling how far Llorente could be upgraded.

Ferland Mendy – Real Madrid

Base level: 85

Max potential: 90

Mendy would be incredible as a 90 rated LB, but he and his Real team are up against the odds if they want to reach the finals of the competition given their 1-0 loss to PSG!

Paulinho – Sporting Lisbon

Base level: 85

Max potential: 90

After their 5-0 loss to Man City in the first leg of the Round of 16, the less said about this guy the better…

Karim Adeyemi – RB Salzburg

Base level: 87

Max potential: 92

This card has the potential to be an incredibly pacey beast! However, unless RB Salzburg do the unthinkable and perform giant killing after giant killing, Adeyemi isn’t likely to receive a further upgrade.

Leon Goretzka – Bayern Munich

Base level: 89

Max potential: 94

Bayern are one of the favourites to go all the way in the competition – so packing this Goretzka card would be a massive result

Stefan de Vrij – Inter Milan

Base level: 86

Max potential: 91

Inter have a rich history in the history of European football, they’re having a strong season in Serie A, so they’re in a great position to improve their European record. If they can get past a good Liverpool side, expect to see de Vrij earn a number of upgrades.

Luis Diaz – Liverpool

Base level: 85

Max Potential: 90

Diaz has made a bright start for Liverpool, but the real question is can he help the push for a 7th European cup? Diaz might receive a couple of upgrades, but whether he gets anywhere near his max potential is yet to be seen.

Kai Havertz – Chelsea

Base level: 86

Max potential: 91

As part of the team of reigning champions, Havertz is looking like he might make it to the latter stages of the tournament. Unless Chelsea crash out early, he’s a good bet to fulfil his max potential!

Jonathan David – Lille

Base level: 85

Max potential: 90

Lille are sitting bang in the middle of Ligue 1 and they have had an incredibly difficult draw, coming up against Chelsea in the round of 16. You can expect David to be a one and done upgrade – unless the unthinkable happens…

Pau Torres – Villareal

Base level: 85

Max potential: 90

Another lower level team who have drawn a megateam, Pau Torres’ Villareal will be facing Juventus in the round of 16. It’ll take a solid performance at the back to ensure that Torres bags his virtual-self an upgrade!

Paulo Dybala – Juventus

Base level: 88

Max potential: 93

Dybala is yet to receive an in-form or special card in this year’s game, so an RTTF card will have FIFA players on the edge of their seats! Juve haven’t won the European Cup since 1996, so it’ll be interesting to see how far they can get this year.

Jadon Sancho – Manchester United

Base level: 88

Max potential: 93

So far this year, Sancho’s Ones to Watch card has been quite stagnant. A Road to the Final card offers Sancho the chance to upgrade and muscle his way into Prem squads across all of FUT.

Adel Taarabt – Benfica

Base level: 84

Max potential: 89

Taarabt receives a huge upgrade from his standard 77 card and as far as UEFA Champions League draws go for lower level teams, Ajax isn’t the worst of opponents. It’ll be a battle, but Taarabt could manage to get a second upgrade!

Edson Álvarez  – Ajax

Base level: 86

Max level: 91

As is the usual in the Dutch league, Ajax are sitting pretty at the top and they still have quality in their team. They’ll believe they’re more than capable of dispatching Benfica, so don’t be surprised to see Álvarez pick up a number of upgrades.

Riyad Mahrez – Manchester City

Base level – 88

Max potential – 93

City made it to the final last year and they’ll be chomping at the bit to improve on their second place medals. An RTTF card for Mahrez is an exciting prospect given he’s almost guaranteed to rake in the upgrades.

Antony Martial – Sevilla

Base level – 86

Max Potential – 91

There are some big names left in the Europa League, including Barca, Napoli and Dortmund – but Sevilla will still be backing themselves to make waves in the competition. Martial could easily make his way to within touching distance of his full potential!
