In a Twitter/X post, the popular online poker site shared that it’s back with plenty of features for regulars and new players. Using a posted video, ClubWPT Gold teased the availability of its PLO, hand analysis, and a subscription to its Upswing Lab 1.0.

It’s a surprising turnaround for ClubWPT Gold after Governor Kathy Hochul signed Senate Bill S5935A last December 5th, 2025. The bill targeted websites and gaming platforms that operate using the dual-currency model.

ClubWPT Gold was one of the sites that closed shop after the sweepstakes casino ban took effect. But with the site now active and accessible to New Yorkers, Nikki and the rest of the ClubWPT Gold team have something up their sleeves.

One Step Back and Two Steps Forward for ClubWPT Gold?

ClubWPT Gold returned to the Empire State a month after its exit due to a new state law banning sweepstakes casino games. The operator’s pivot is due to a change to its business model: instead of the typical Gold Coins (GCs) and Sweeps Coins (SCs), it now packages itself around poker training/hand analysis credits, with Chips which users can swap for cash prizes.

It’s a creative move from the operator to distance itself from the traditional dual-currency model which was the target of bans in California and New York. Thanks to this work-around, ClubWPT Gold is once again accessible in the state.

ClubWPT Gold Introduces a  Few Tweaks to its T&Cs in California

As part of its repackaging for NY players, ClubWPT Gold has introduced a few changes to gameplay for California players. According to its recently updated FAQs section, California players can only participate in tourneys and cash games where they can earn chips redeemable for nine days each month. The operator calls this the “California Days”, and the schedule varies from player to player.

According to the operator, players can play beyond these days and claim more chips, but these aren’t available for cashout.

However, some legal experts and analysts are skeptical that the restructuring can protect ClubWPT Gold from challenge and inquiries.

For now, the popular social poker site is live in New York, and it offers something different and exciting for its loyal players.
