Gold Treasure Casino Exits California, Tennessee as Sweepstakes Pressure Builds

Gold Treasure Casino, a sweepstakes casino launchedin early 2025, is making an abrupt exit. After less than a year of operations, the company is pulling the plug—at least for two states, California and Tennessee. 

In an email sent to players on December 25th, Gold Treasure shared the news that it’s closing its doors in the two states, starting January 1st, 2026, “due to recent regulatory changes”. 

Gold Treasure Casino isn’t alone; at least six operators have bowed out of California, and Tennessee also recorded the same number. These confirmed exits are part of the broader industry retreat ahead of the full ban in California and growing enforcement in Tennessee.

“A Decision Not Made Lightly”, Says Gold Treasure

Sweepstakes casino players in California have recently been in the spotlight, particularly due to a surge in emails and notifications from operators. Gold Treasure is the latest to issue a clarification, through an email sent on Christmas Day. The management shared that its closing their doors to Tennessee and California players, and it’s a decision “not made lightly”.

It added that while they loved the Gold Treasure community, they had no other choice but to close. The management has also shared a few reminders for its users ahead of the expected closure

• After January 1st, access will be restricted, and remaining funds (SCs and GCs) will be removed

The Gold Treasure team urged its players to log in before the scheduled date and use or redeem the remaining Sweeps Coins (SCs). It also shared the company’s contact details for players who want further help and answers.

Gold Treasure Remains Accessible in 30+ States

After January 1st, Golden Treasure will become accessible in at least 36 states. However, this figure is subject to change as other states are in the process of approving or preparing their versions of the sweepstakes casino ban.

Gold Treasure Casino has not released another email or statement detailing its plans moving forward, as of this writing.
