Missouri Sports Betting Goes Live Monday: Six Things to Know

Check the latest on Missouri’s legal sports betting before signing up

Sports Betting Mobile

Missouri’s much-anticipated sports betting market is officially on today, December 1st, 2025, at midnight CT. It’s a pivotal moment for the state after years of debates and a narrow voter approval last year. By approving Amendment 2, which legalizes sports wagering, the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) takes full supervision- it worked overtime to write the rules, issue licenses, and finalize its operational guidelines.

Missouri is now the 39th US state to legalize sports betting.

Here are six things you should know if you’re planning to bet, or just plain curious about Missouri’s dive into sports betting.

Who Can (and Can’t) Bet

According to state laws, players who are at least 21 years old or older and physically residing in the state can bet on sports. Residency isn’t a requirement to place a bet; interested bettors must be physically present in the state to use the app or bet at retail sportsbooks. Participating sportsbooks use geolocation technology to block players’ access from outside state lines.

Anyone below 21, even if they’re physically located in the Show-Me state, can’t bet. Also, state regulations state that coaches, athletes and staff involved with Missouri’s professional sports teams can’t play.

When Will It Start?

Missouri Sports Betting Update

Betting lines open at 12:01 a.m. CT today, with retail and online apps accepting real money bets immediately. Most participating betting sites hosted pre-registration in advance, allowing their users to register, download apps, and claim free bets ahead of time.

How Many Sportsbook Operators Will Participate?

Up to 14 operators are allowed to offer sports betting services. About eight major platforms lead the kickoff, including BetMGM, Bet365, Fanatics Sportsbook, and Caesars Sportsbook.

Licenses to operate “are tethered” to local operators- six to casinos (such as BetMGM), and six to professional teams (like FanDuel with St. Louis City SC), and two untethered.

What Sports Can You Follow and Bet On?

When betting shops open, you’ll find an extensive coverage of the pro leagues, college sports and international sporting events. You can expect that these major operators will put the spotlight on the betting markets for NFL, NBA, and NHL, and international golf, basketball, and tennis should be on the menu, too.

For betting options, expect both pre-match and in-play betting, covering popular bets such as moneyline, spread, props, and totals.

Plenty of Bonuses to Keep You In the Action

Expect plenty of competition among licensed operators, and you can see it in the quality of betting promos offered. For example, BetMGM boasts up to $1,500 in bonus bets, bundled with a $100 deposit match. DraftKings matches your first bets up to $1,000, while Fanatics give free bets to its new players.

Responsible Gambling Tools Are in Place

Responsible Betting

In addition to geolocation and KYC checks, licensed Missouri operators are required to integrate responsible gambling tools. For example, sites must provide their bettors access to deposit and session limits, reality checks, and self-exclusion. Also, apps are mandated to display problem gambling resources prominently.

Missouri has partnered with the National Council on Problem Gambling.
