Three More Sweepstakes Casinos Close, Six Total Since October

Turbo Stakes, OnPoint, and LuckyStars are the latest sweepstakes casinos in California to announce their closure in response to the state’s 2026 gaming ban

California Senate

As California inches closer to its January 1st, 2026, deadline, three more sweepstakes casinos have decided to exit the market: Turbo Stakes, OnPoint, and LuckyStars. All three sweepstakes casinos have informed their players via a notice on their platforms that they will pull the plug in November. They’re the latest sites to join the march out of the California market following the approval of AB831, which will completely ban sweepstakes casino gaming.

Unlike other states, California’s anti-sweepstakes gaming bill is stricter as it extends liability to payment processors, software vendors, and affiliates. With the looming ban and stricter penalties, the list of operators closing shop has increased to six as of November.

Operators Unveil a 15-Day Shutdown Period

LuckyStars Notice

Players and users accessing Turbo Stakes, OnPoint, and LuckyStars will find a notification on the homepage announcing the operator’s decision. All three platforms are managed by a company called SWPMSystem LLC or SWPMTECH LLC. It appears that it’s just one company, and it operates all three sweepstake casino platforms, given the uniform messaging and layout.

The announcement on one of its sites, dated November 1st, 2025, reads: “We would like to inform you that LuckyStars will be permanently shutting down and discontinuing its services. This notice serves as the official Shutdown Notice in writing and is issued in accordance with our updated Terms & Conditions and Sweep Rules.”

The message also includes a detailed explanation of the shutdown process, such as:

  • The website will no longer allow new registrations during the shutdown period
  • Players can continue using their Gold Coins for gameplay for 15 calendar days from the date of notice
  • Purchase of GCs is no longer allowed, but players can still earn additional Sweeps Coins (SCs) through gameplay or other approved means
  • Players may not use their SCs to join promos
  • GCs or SCs earned before the shutdown period can still initiate redemptions

California Sees More Exist as Deadlime Looms

Turbo Stakes

Turbo Stakes, OnPoint, and LuckyStars will formally close shop on November 16th, after completing their shutdown period. All coins not applied for redemption within the applicable period are deemed lost and waived.

The state’s passage of AB831 pushed many sweepstakes casino operators to rethink and adjust their strategies. Some operators immediately pulled the plug after the bill’s passage, and some have decided to stay put, at least until December 31st.

Vivaro.us exited last October 1st, Bitsler.io announced an extension until December 1st, and WOW Vegas wants to make a milestone by keeping its site active until December 31st.
