Chumba, LuckyLand, and Global Poker to Drop Sweeps Coins in West Virginia
VGW follows Pulsz and B-Two in quiet exit after AG scrutiny

The biggest name in social sweepstakes just confirmed its exit plan.
VGW—parent company of Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker—will end all Sweeps Coin gameplay in West Virginia by Nov. 25, 2025. The Australian operator announced it will continue Gold Coin play only, making it the latest to ditch cashout models under mounting legal pressure.
Player Notice Has Already Gone Out
VGW players in West Virginia are now receiving in-platform alerts:
- Nov. 11 – You’ll stop earning Sweeps Coins (no more bonuses, logins, or AMOE entries)
- Nov. 18 – You’ll lose the ability to play with SC
- Nov. 25 – Final redemptions will be processed; after that, it’s Gold Coins only
VGW’s Official Statement
In a message to Sweepsy, VGW clarified the move: “This decision wasn’t taken lightly… Players in West Virginia will still be able to enjoy free-to-play games using Gold Coins. We’re focused on making the transition smooth and transparent.”
The same model is now active in New York and New Jersey, where VGW pulled Sweeps Coins earlier this year but retained its Gold Coin-only offering.
What’s Behind the Change?
It traces back to February. That’s when West Virginia Attorney General JB McCuskey issued subpoenas to 47 operators, aiming to curb illegal gambling and protect minors. While VGW wasn’t named directly, insiders say the move spooked most of the industry.
McCuskey has made no secret of his crackdown. “We have serious concerns about consumers and our children being targeted by illegal gambling operations.”
Since then, Pulsz, Pulsz Bingo, McLuck, Hello Millions, and others have quietly removed Sweeps Coin functionality from West Virginia. VGW now joins the pack.
Gold Coin Model Keeps Sites Alive
Importantly, Gold Coin gameplay is still legal in West Virginia snd most restricted states. That’s because these coins have no cash value and are used strictly for entertainment.
Players can still buy Gold Coins and play their favorite slots, poker, or casino games, but no more cashouts or prize redemptions. It’s a model proven by platforms like Modo Casino, which is planning a similar shift to stay live in California post-AB 831.
What’s Next for Players?
If you’re a VGW user in West Virginia:
- Use your Sweeps Coins before Nov. 18
- Redeem anything left by Nov. 25
- After that, it’s Gold Coin gameplay only
