Provably fair, in three steps
1. Commit
Before you stake, the game publishes the hash of the server seed the round will use.
2. Play
The result is computed from that seed, a client seed your browser holds and a nonce, with HMAC-SHA256.
3. Reveal
When the round closes the seed is revealed, so you can recompute the result and check the hash.
Rules, odds and how to play
How to play
Choose how many mines are hidden on the five-by-five board, from 1 to 24, and set your stake. The mines are laid before you bet. Tap tiles one at a time: each gem you uncover raises the multiplier, and you can cash out whenever you like. Hit a mine and the round ends with the stake lost.
More mines means fewer safe tiles, so each gem is worth more; fewer mines means a slow and steady climb. The default board has three mines.
Rules at a glance
- 25 tiles; you pick the number of mines, from 1 to 24.
- The multiplier climbs with every gem you uncover.
- Cash out at any point after the first gem; the payout is the stake times the current multiplier.
- The most a round can pay is 25,000 SC at the default limit; the round settles on its own when that is reached.
Odds and payouts
After g gems with m mines the multiplier is 0.99 divided by the chance of uncovering those g gems, with payouts rounded down to the cent. Three mines pay 1.125× for the first gem and about 2× by the fifth; one mine pays 1.03× for the first gem; twenty-four mines pay 24.75× for the only safe tile. Cashing out after any fixed number of gems returns 99.0 percent of stakes in expectation, whatever the mine count.
Provably fair
The order of all 25 tiles is drawn from the server seed, your client seed and a nonce before the stake; the first m tiles in that order are the mines, so the layout does not depend on the count you chose. The server seed is committed by its hash before you stake and revealed when the round closes, so you can recompute the result and check that the hash matches. The Fairness panel inside the game shows the seeds and the formula. In the free demo the server seed is generated in your own browser, so the check is a demonstration rather than independent proof; at a casino the game service holds the seed.
Playing it well
Decide your exit before you start: a target multiplier or a number of gems. The maths is the same at every point, so the only thing that changes is how wild the ride is. High mine counts are the volatile choice.
